He says, “I want to congratulate President Museveni, Hon. Mao and our own Dr. Siranda for this new phase of political maturity you have pioneered. This is an example of political inclusiveness that we have all along talked about in our conversations at the National Dialogue. I’m glad that now, Hon. Mao is in charge of the process, and Dr. Siranda will soon be on the dinning table. Please revive the dialogue process. We have applied the ‘winner takes all’ principle since independence, but it has not taken us far. I have my confidence in Hon. Mao to remain principled even as he serves in the NRM Government. I believe he will dialogue from within, an opportunity that will give him chance not only to communicate, but also to implement our aspirations first hand.
“I have seen a barrage of criticisms, insults, even threats against your action. Never mind them. They are entitled to their opinions. But remember you are leaders. A good leader leads not from the rear, neither the midst, but from the front. The led, including the reluctant will always follow, if the mission is explained well. Don’t fear the insults, threats or intimidation. Keep on explaining. Execute your mandates zealously and faithfully and prove the critics wrong. I have a lot of confidence in both of you!
“God be with you in everything.”
