Uganda registers significant increase in milk production
Uganda has registered an increase in milk production over the last four years from 2.5 billion litres in 2018 to 2.8 billion litres in 2021. According to the Dairy Development Authority, out of the 2.8 billion litres, 80 per cent is marketed while 19.8 per cent is consumed at the farm.
66% of all the milk collected everyday is not processed. That translates to 7.4 million litres everyday milked by the farmers. There are now 160 milk processors in Uganda which are licenced and officials say that more investors are needed.
