There are proposals to have members of the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) elected by universal suffrage in their respective countries and adopt them as ex-officials in their national parliaments. The proposals were made by prominent Pan-African, Professor PLO Lumumba and the Deputy Speaker of Parliament Thomas Tayebwa at the opening of a two-day induction of the Parliamentary Forum on East African Community Affairs – (PEACA) in Munyonyo Kampala.
