The Speaker of Parliament Anita Among has directed the government Chief Whip Hamson Obua to write to the Minister of Energy and Mineral Development Ruth Nankabirwa warning her of absconding from parliamentary plenary sittings.
This was after her absence on Thursday in parliament after being summoned on Wednesday this week to appear and inform the country about the measures taken by the government to curb the skyrocketing fuel prices in the country.
In reply, Obua told parliament that he wrote to Minister Nankabirwa notifying her about the directive from Speaker Among but no response was received from her in relation to matters of fuel prices.
Several gas stations have in the last fortnight or so raised their prices in increments between Shs80 and Shs300
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education and Sports report on the hiking school fees has been rejected by parliament.
This was after the State Sports Minister Peter Ogwang presented a report which was termed substantive and not consequently addressing the concern of school fees and was directed by Speaker Among to return with a new report next week on Tuesday.
